I arrived in Shanghai at about 10 pm. A friend came to pick me up at the airport
and we take the taxi. I am totally amazed by all the large neon signs and advertisements.
Maybe its because I live in simple little Aurora, Colorado. Heheh...
During the day, Shanghai looks pretty foggy, or cloudy.
But the weather is very hot (this is during June-July)
I took the picture above from the balcony of my friend's house.
This is a picture of the Jin Mao Tower. I think its the tallest building in China,
but I'm not positive. I was being a tourist and went to a little area that had
a gate. I couldn't understand exactly what was being said, but I knew that I should
have not entered the gate, so I left. I took the picture from a bad location.
Not everything goes right! Darn! :)

Here's a picture of an older area of Shanghai that. I try to imagine what Shanghai
was like before all the renovations and modernizations. My friend told me that
Shanghai is developing at a an extremely rapid pace. While
in Shanghai, I had a few guides show me around. When I met my guides, I was surprised
to find out that they were very interested in American people and culture.
I think they got a little out from me about America and speaking
English by being my guide so it was all in
all, a great cultural exchange. :) An old section of Shanghai Back to China |Wuxi
