These pictures were taken in December 1998 around the holiday seasons of Christmas and New year's Eve.
I arrived at Frankfurt airport where a friend picked me up and we drove around Germany for a litle over a week. My friend has written most of the commentaries/captioning for the pictures for me

This is a castle in the Rhine, which the first sight-seeing we did while driving.

This is a monument of Emperor Wilhelm erected by the province of Westfalia,
overlooking the Weser Valley
The "Roland"
This statue is typical for medieval North German cities, a symbol to protect
it. Now these statues are hard to find, this one is the biggest remaining
